Help us create sustainable, high-yield urban farms and backyard gardens

By CitySlickerFarms

City Slicker Farms needs volunteers!

We add new volunteering opportunities periodically based on season and special projects, so check back regularly! Scroll down to learn more about potential volunteer opportunities or email us at volunteer@cityslickerfarms.org with questions.

We are seeking volunteers to help out with the following:

Farm Park Workdays
Volunteers are a vital part of keeping the Farm growing and the Farm Park beautiful and inviting! We have regularly scheduled volunteer days that include planting, weeding, irrigation and greenhouse work.

Farm & Gardens Support
Volunteers help with tasks like seeding, keeping perimeter perennials are perky, and supporting gardeners. Once trained, these volunteers can make their own schedules and work as a team or solo.

Garden Builds
Garden Build volunteers help build gardens at partner sites across the Bay Area. Volunteers can assemble garden boxes, move soil, and plant seedlings. The garden builds take 4-5 hours, and CSF supplies all necessary tools. Multilingual volunteers are especially helpful.

Special Projects
We are a tight team and spend most of our time with our community in their gardens, planting and harvesting on the Farm, or supporting community events. Volunteers are needed for everything from data management, graphic design, social media, webmaster and more.

Team Building + Training
Our private group volunteer work days offer organizations an opportunity to build connections between members and practice teamwork while learning about farming and the West Oakland community. The length of the workday as well as the activities are customizable and include small-farm chores like weeding and planting, feeding the chickens, and harvesting honey, as well as larger projects like garden builds that support residents all across Alameda County.
